2048 Strategy for Beginners
The simple habits that stop chaos and help you reliably build bigger tiles.
Pick a corner (and never let your biggest tile leave it)
Choose one corner and treat it like home base. Your highest tile should stay parked there as much as possible. This gives your board a stable shape and makes your next moves predictable.
Use two directions most of the time
Strong games are usually played with two directions (for example: left + down). The other two directions are emergency moves that you use sparingly.
Build rows that increase toward your corner
Try to keep tiles ordered like a gradient. Large tiles should be grouped and aligned, not scattered. If your board stays ordered, merges become easier to plan.
When the board is crowded, every move must create or set up a merge
Late game is where most runs die. If you swipe and nothing merges, ask whether you just destroyed your structure. Prioritize moves that reduce clutter.
